Part 4: America Cannot Prosper Without Returning to Christ
What a tragic day it was for America when our Supreme Court acted in ignorance, ignored all precedence, made an announcement and in essence, thumbed their noses at Jesus Christ and said we will no longer follow your ways and those of our founders and then took prayer and the Bible out of public schools. They did this even though public schools were established by our founders to teach Christianity and the Bible because they are necessary supports of good government. Those on the Supreme Court who made this decision had no appreciation of the sovereignty of the great Governor of the Universe, Jesus Christ Almighty like those who went before them who did fear the Lord.
Had these supposed intellectuals on the Supreme Court the understanding that all the history of Israel in the Old Testament is meant to teach us who follow (I Corinthians 10:1-6, 11) and if they knew of all the success and prosperity with kings who followed the Lord’s ways and failure and suffering with bad kings who would not follow God’s Word and had they knowledge of the Lord’s promises to people and nations who follow Christ’s ways, would these liberal intellectuals still have taken prayer and then the Bible out of public schools? The sad answer is that being subject to the delusion of Satan they would have! And the proof is that they have done that very thing over and over. There is no better evidence that we live in Satan’s world than to review the history of how liberalism is destroying America, a nation that was blessed in every way by following Christ’s ways as promised all nations in the first 14 verses of Deuteronomy 28.
There is a lesson for America in the vivid history of Israel’s blessings and curses in the twin books of the Old Testament (Kings, Chronicles, Samuel) and the promises of blessings or curses in Psalm 2, Leviticus 26, and Deuteronomy 28. America became the top nation in the world; but, in no way replaced Christ’s favored nation of Israel, just as promised in Deuteronomy 28:1 and 13 for following the Lord’s ways. Now that America is on the way down, other nations no longer have the respect for America that they once had. Witness how startled America was when Russia invaded Crimea in an effort to re-establish the old Soviet Union and other world mockeries of a once strong and proud America.
Psalm 2 tells us the Lord laughs at nations who refuse to follow the Lords ways in verse 2 and 4 and then in verse 12 we have this: Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way,For His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him! Only fools would anger Christ by trying to remove Christ from anything.
Let us look at this scripture from Colossians 1:15-17: 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. 17 He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. This scripture and other scripture tell us there is absolutely nothing that Christ over looks in His sovereignty over us to bless us as he is a very loving Lord who died for each of us. He loves us enough to give us free choice in choosing His blessings or curses. Let’s look at a few of these:
A. Prosperity
Deuteronomy 28:1 and 13 promise that nations who diligently do all the Lord commands will be above all other nations and that they will always be at the top and never at the bottom. He even financed his new nation of Israel with the gold of Egypt in Exodus 11:1 and 2 and in Exodus 12:36 it tells us: thus the Israelites plundered Egypt! What more proof could you ask for than by America following the Lord’s ways; America became the most prosperous and free nation on earth!
B. Weather
Isaiah 51:3 Indeed, the Lord will comfort Zion; He will comfort all her waste places. And her wilderness He will make like Eden, And her desert like the garden of the Lord; Joy and gladness will be found in her, Thanksgiving and sound of a melody. Do you know the Lord is greening up Israel now and making the desert productive again. Please do not miss it, it is very entertaining. Please understand this: the Lord is not doing this for Israel’s sake but for the sake of His name, His Word(John1:14) and to prove His sovereignty! See Ezekiel 36:6-11, 22, 33-35.
C. Protection
America now has so many enemies trying to destroy us that we are frantically trying to find them. The Lord promises that he will protect nations who follow His ways. There are many places in scripture where this can be seen. I think the best place is in Deuteronomy 28:1and 13, where the Lord promises those nations who follow his ways will always be at the top and never under any other nation. In other words if nations follow the Lords ways they are invincible! I refer you to Part 2 America’s World War II Miracle as one example of this. Another example is in Judges 7. After the Lord finally convinced Gideon to lead a force against the huge camp of the Medians, of 135,000 men, the Lord said you have too many men and might boast it was by your power that you had victory so he had Gideon send home all those who were afraid and all but 10,000 of the 33,000 men went home. The Lord said you still have too many and finally when they were down to 300 men the Lord said that is enough and it was!
The above three examples are just a tiny sampling of the ways God blesses nations as the Bible is full of examples. My book America, Christ’s Top Nation Has Fallen has much more about all of this.
The tragedy of America is that once prayer and the then the Bible were removed from public schools, the electorate of America no longer knows that God’s Word instructs us to elect men who fear God to be over us. Isn’t it obvious by now that leaders who push for things like abortion and approval of lifestyles God’s Word condemns do not fear God? These same leaders think people who do not adhere to the principals in God’s Word should share in the blessings God gives those who do adhere to the principles in God’s Word. In others words, they insist on having control of the blessings God gives righteous people and that is an abomination as the government workers keep most of the money!
