2-18-14 God’s Word is Meant to be Six Day Foolproof

Scripture is NASB unless stated:

Do you understand that God established the seventh day as a day of rest and worship to celebrate God’s creation of the universe in six days?

I love celebrating Sundays and I also love how completely I can trust God’s Word. In my worship, I remember an absolutely wonderful thing that happened to me when I made a couple of decisions about God’s Word all those years ago.

My wife and I were married 37 years ago and after being assured we had a secure marriage we decided that we needed to raise our baby as we had been raised and so we started looking for a church to attend. We then started attending a liberal church that we went to first because we already knew people there. Awhile after that, I decided I am not going to learn much here so I started to read the Bible. A devout friend at work noticed I was searching and he suggested I read 9 chapters a day; 2 Old Testament, 4 Psalms, 1 Proverb and 2 New Testament chapters every day. Reading the Bible at this level really gives a person the big picture of what God is telling us in His Word. I soon fell deeply in love with God’s Word.

With all that Bible reading, I soon came across something where I needed to decide whether or not, I was going to trust the Bible or not. After a few days, I decided I would trust God’s Word as the truth and I then knew I had made the right decision because the Holy Spirit lit up my life! Still later in my reading, I decided this Bible is not only all true, it is one big understatement after another and the Holy Spirit again lit up my life.

After a few years of reading the Bible I realized something marvelous had happened to me. I could no longer accept anything I became aware of that did not concur with the Bible. One of them was the evolution I had unconsciously accepted in college as plausible. After reading the Bible trough about thirty times or more, I realize what a tremendous blessing that was. Anything other than the six days of creation was now totally non acceptable to me spiritually. I recently watched Ken Ham use the Bible to debate Bob Nye, the Science Guy at the Creation Museum. When Bob Nye used unproven science to debate his side, I tried but just could not watch him and I consider that to also be from the Holy Spirit since it is the same as when I see other things I should not look at.

If some of you Christians consider the 6 days of creation in Genesis 1 to mean something other than 6 days, please consider what follows:

  1. Creations First Day

God’s Word explains in the first five verses of Genesis 1, on the very first day of creation, God created light and established that a day was an evening and a morning. Later in the Bible, God tells how he made a covenant with the 24 hour day in Jeremiah 33:25 where God informs us that he created the fixed patterns of the heavens which are physics(please also see Psalm 119:89-91 NIV if you desire physics as a law). Science is based on a 24 hour day.

  1. Creations 2nd and 3rd Days

Genesis 1:6-13 explains that God created the vault over the seas and separated the land from the seas and created plants and trees to cover the earth. This is marvelous because God did not create the sun and the moon until the fourth day when land and the vegetation on the land had already been created on the second and third day.

  1. On the fourth day, God created the heavens and the sun and moon as “let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years” and “God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night” in verses 14-16. Remember that he had already created light on the first day. Therefore a day cannot be more than 24 hours because God covenanted with that time period being a day. A day cannot be 24 thousand years or 24 million years or even 24 billion years. God has richly blessed man with a 24 day that we can base our lives, history and science on.
  2. Some of you will no doubt want to account for the age of dinosaurs. God told Job that he created dinosaurs the same time as man! Job 40:15 NIV.

Christians, please consider God’s fourth commandment where God explained we must hold the seventh day holy because He created the universe in six days and rested on the seventh day: Exodus 20:11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and made it holy. On the Sabbath, one of the things we worship is that God was mighty enough to create the universe in six 24 hour days.

Christians, would you also consider how many times the Bible mentions God’s mighty right hand and arm and things on the right. When you question creation being in six days, it appears that you are questioning if God is that mighty: Isaiah 63:12 Who caused His glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses, Who divided the waters before them to make for Himself an everlasting name. While we are at it, please consider Ecclesiastes 10:2 A wise man’s heart directs him toward the right, but the foolish man’s heart directs him toward the left because the flawed science of more than six days for creation is from the left where the things of the world are.

There are still bigger problems when the six days of creation are over looked. Christian, please consider whether you are slandering Moses and God’s Word when you cannot accept the literal six days of creation. Moses spent forty days on the Mountain top with God, brought down the Ten Commandments and all the rules and regulations on the way the Israelites should live and worship. He got all the details of the temple and worship exactly right as they had to be exact copies of what is in Heaven. Christian, please consider whether or not you are slandering God’s Holy Person Moses and God’s Word when you cannot accept the literal six days of creation. Do you think God lied to Moses? Do you think Moses wrote a fairy tale in Genesis 1? What about the six days of creation in Exodus 20:11 and 31:15-17 and God’s covenant with the 24 hour day in Jeremiah 33:25? Exodus 31:15-17 15 For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a sabbath of complete rest, holy to the Lord; whoever does any work on the sabbath day shall surely be put to death. 16 So the sons of Israel shall observe the sabbath, to celebrate the sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant.’ 17 It is a sign between Me and the sons of Israel forever; for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day He ceased from labor, and was refreshed.”

Christian, please consider this also, the Bible’s six days are as a thousand years speaks to all our Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior and The Great Governor and Creator of the Universe does in a day such as keeping a record of every ones tears in Psalm 56:8 to tracking every persons every hair in Luke 12:7 and everything they do and say in Psalm 139.
