11-12-13 The Absurdity of Christ’s Church Staying Out of Politics Part 2

The Owner of Everything Never Ever Required Any Government to Give Benefits to the Poor
Are you shocked when I tell you that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the Great Governor of the World and Creator and Owner of everything and everyone, never required any government to take from one and benefit another in the Bible? America’s Godly founding fathers followed the Bible and they also never called for our American government to take from the industry of one and give to another as that would be wicked. The poor were to be helped generously by the Lord’s followers and their churches and not by the government.
Look at how the Lord’s ways are always the correct way compared to our president Lyndon Johnson who bragged he had way more women than John Kennedy. Deuteronomy 15:4-6 However, there will be no poor among you, since the LORD will surely bless you in the land which the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance to possess, 5 if only you listen obediently to the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all this commandment which I am commanding you today. 6 For the LORD your God will bless you as He has promised you, and you will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow; and you will rule over many nations, but they will not rule over you. Following America’s rebellion in 1963 where we thumbed our noses at the Lord and said we will no longer follow yours ways, which our Christian founders had put in place, and took prayer and then the Bible out of public schools; the extremely vulgar Lyndon Johnson then spent 7 trillion dollars on a war on poverty even thought the Lord said you will always have the poor with you (Matthew 11:5) and at the end America had as many poor as before! Surprise, 70% of the money stayed in the government and we are now cursed by an unworkable big government mess and instead of being in debt to no one, we and our children and grandchildren owe China burdensome amounts of money. As Johnson did this damage, he threatened our churches with the loss of their tax exemption if they got involved in politics!
Now we have a large group of Americans trusting President Obama with their health care as they complain about how he has lied to them. Good luck with that America! America would do well to instead turn back to the Lord for His care. In the 40 years the millions of Israelites followed the Lord in the desert, he feed them and gave them water from the rock as he disciplined them and watched over them, they had no sickness nor did their cloths wearout or their feet swell! Deuteronomy 7:15 and 8:4. America doesn’t seem to understand that if Obama just happens to be a Muslim, he is only obligated to keep the truth with fellow Muslims and by the way it is acceptable for Muslims to lie to non-Muslims when practicing jihad!
It is amazing how the Lord’s ways work. When Christians tithe 10% to Christ’s Church for the Lord’s work, they get way more in return by being blessed by the Lord. As soon as I started tithing, I received a job making more money and I noted less expenses! The Bible tells us over and over that it is we who are to give generously to those around us in need. Why would the Bible require the rich to take care of the poor when his way is to richly bless his followers for taking care of the deserving poor? The owner of everything knows who is to be blessed when they follow him.
All of the following verses are from my Founders Bible in an article titled Caring for the Poor. Please note the responsibility for caring for the poor is always individuals and their churches. When the government takes care of the poor it is wicked because 70% of the money stays with the government.
Proverbs 19:17 One who is gracious to a poor man lends to the LORD, And He will repay him for his good deed.; Luke 14:13-14 But when you give a reception, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, since they do not have the means to repay you; for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”
Matthew 25:34-40 34 “Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; 36 naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? 38 And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? 39 When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’
The reason benefits are to come from individuals and their churches is the Lord does not want his blessings going to the undeserving who want to make welfare a way of life. Individuals will not keep giving money for food and housing to then see it go down the drain in bars or lost in gambling or drugs or some other sinful waste of money that the Lord could better use elsewhere. Remember what a battle it was to get the federal government to make work fare a requirement? For years liberals fought placing any kind of requirement on welfare recipients. I was in Chicago, or some city, in a bad snowstorm when I heard on the radio that the able bodied welfare recipients who were now required to work for their checks did not show up to shovel snow from sidewalks.
There used to be poor farms and the kids that grew up on a poor farm were very unlikely to enter a poor farm in their adulthood because they were stigmatized. When liberals removed stigma; we now have generations of families living on welfare. We lived across the creek from a neat little house of a hard working family. When hard times came and they lost their jobs they found welfare comfortable. In no time at all they had difficulty getting their yard picked up and the garbage to the curb. Welfare as a way of life ruins people, whether there is stigma or not, when it becomes an acceptable way of life.
The way of the Lord is to reward hard work, honesty, thriftiness, fidelity to ones wife, raising their children to love the Lord and helping others who need help as they follow the Lord’s ways. The Bible is full of promises on how these righteous people will be blessed by the Lord. Liberals find righteousness in taking what others have and giving it to others which is not righteousness but self righteousness. The first is from the Lord and second from Satan!
There are not many quotes from our founding fathers on why benefits should not come from government as they did not see it as a government function but there are some as follows:
Thomas Jefferson: “To take from one, because it is thought his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, the guarantee to everyone the free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it.” And Later in 1824 –in a letter to William Ludlow : I think we have more machinery of government than is necessary, too many parasites living on the labor of the industrious.”, And especially this: “I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.”
James Madison warning that the welfare state would quickly get out of control: “If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the General Welfare, the Government is no longer a limited one, possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one, subject to particular exceptions.”, letter to Edmund Pendleton, 1792
At America’s founding, Christianity was the politics of the day. How is that Christ’s evangelical church is politically the opposite of what it was at America’s founding?
Next week we will cover why the government giving benefits to the poor is wicked and why the evils of Liberalism should not be tolerated by the evangelical church. In the meantime know that following God’s Word is righteousness and not following God’s Word is wicked. Our creator knew how things were to work! The Great Governors blessings are to flow to the righteous not the wicked. Please do not confuse the Lord’s blessings with the prosperity of the wicked which can be a curse.

Note: Please see Attachment A which follows that has quotes from our founders on how America was founded on the Bible and Christianity.

Attachment A:
Let us look at some things the founders said about America being founded on the Bible by Christians for Christians but first, some more scripture on who is to do the giving:
Isaiah 58:6-10
6 “Is this not the fast which I choose,
To loosen the bonds of wickedness,
To undo the bands of the yoke,
And to let the oppressed go free
And break every yoke?
7 “Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry
And bring the homeless poor into the house;
When you see the naked, to cover him;
And not to hide yourself from your own flesh?
8 “Then your light will break out like the dawn,
And your recovery will speedily spring forth;
And your righteousness will go before you;
The glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.
9 “Then you will call, and the LORD will answer;
You will cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’
If you remove the yoke from your midst,
The pointing of the finger and speaking wickedness,
10 And if you give yourself to the hungry
And satisfy the desire of the afflicted,
Then your light will rise in darkness
And your gloom will become like midday.

Charles Carroll: “Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion, whose morality is so sublime and pure (and) which insures to be good eternal happiness, are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free governments.” Signer of the Declaration and framer of the Bill of Rights
George Washington’s Farewell Address: The name of American, which belongs to you, in your national capacity, must always exalt the just pride of Patriotism, more than any appellation derived from local discriminations. With slight shades of difference, you have the same religion” …and later: “…reason and experience both forbid us to expect, that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle…”and “ It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and Bible.” And “Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor…. and “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, Religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great Pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of Men and Citizens.”
John Adams: “The general principles upon which the Fathers achieved independence were the general principals of Christianity… I will avow that I believed and now believe that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God.”
• “[July 4th] ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.”–John Adams in a letter written to Abigail on the day the Declaration was approved by Congress and “And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with his wrath?”
Thomas Jefferson: I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever.
James Madison: Who did President Madison thank and trust during his First Inaugural Address?
“…we have all been encouraged to feel in the guardianship and guidance of that Almighty Being whose power regulates the destiny of nations, whose blessings have been so conspicuously dispensed to this rising Republic, and to whom we are bound to address our devout gratitude for the past, as well as our fervent supplications and best hopes for the future.” And “Religion [is] the basis and Foundation of Government.”
Ben Franklin in an article advising people who would come to America: “Here is my Creed. I believe in one God, the Creator of the Universe. That He governs it by His Providence. That he ought to be worshipped. Atheism is unknown there; Infidelity rare and secret; so that persons may live to a great age in that country without having their piety shocked by meeting with either an Atheist or an Infidel.”
Daniel Webster: “If we abide by the principles taught in the Bible, our country will go on prospering and to prosper; but if we and our posterity neglect its instruction and authority, no man can tell how sudden a catastrophe may overwhelm us and bury all our glory in profound obscurity.”
“Finally, let us not forget the religious character of our origin. Our fathers were brought hither by their high veneration for the Christian religion. They journeyed by its light, and labored in its hope. They sought to incorporate its principles with the elements of their society, and to diffuse its influence through all their institutions, civil, political, or literary.”

William Penn (Founder of Pennsylvania): “If thou wouldst rule well, thou must rule for God, and to do that, thou must be ruled by him….Those who will not be governed by God will be ruled by tyrants.”
James Wilson: Signer of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution Supreme Court Justice appointed by George Washington who spoke 168 times during the Constitutional Convention: “Christianity is part of the common law”
Abraham Lincoln: “In regards to this great Book (the Bible),
I have but to say it is the best gift God has given to man.
All the good the Saviour gave to the world was communicated through this Book.
But for it we could not know right from wrong.
All things most desirable for man’s welfare, here and hereafter, are found portrayed in it.” And
“I believe I am an humble servant in the hands of our Heavenly Father;
I desire that all my words and acts may be according to His will.”
