Does America Pray For God’s Will to be Done?

I could tell at one of my churches University Classes this spring(2013) that evidently I have a different outlook on how to pray for America’s leaders. Please consider these ideas and put them before the Lord for guidance.
I pray that all schemes, intrigue, deception and wickedness of our leaders fail them and I do not pray that it fail just liberals, I pray that these things fail all leaders. The Old Testament is interwoven with stories on how God blessed the righteou and waged war against the wicked. Since it is clearly God’s will to bless the righteous and work against the wicked, when we Christians pray that God bless our leaders are we not asking God to bless them even in their wickedness?
Christians pray that the Lord’s will be done in the Lord’s Prayer phrase, “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven”; but, do Americans pray as David, a man after God’s own heart, prayed that God’s will be done?
Before we go further, we need to address those Christians, who in their self righteousness, have a problem with David. As I say in my book, get over David, God did. As for me, I would rather be in David’s shoes than mine when I face the Lord and here is why: 1 Kings 15:5 For David had done what was right in the eyes of the Lord and had not failed to keep any of the Lord’s commands all the days of his life—except in the case of Uriah the Hittite. How wish I could say I had kept all the Lord’s commandments except on just one occasion!
I would also like to point out that in David’s righteous prayers and worship he would literally become Christ on the cross as in Psalm 22. I doubt that that has ever happened to those Christians who are self righteous over David and on the way he prayed against the wicked!
Let us look at some scripture and as we read it interject us opressed American Christians into this scripture as we pray like David did for our leaders. We could use much scripture but let us use
Psalm 5:
For the director of music. For pipes. A psalm of David.
1 Listen to my words, LORD,
consider my lament.
2 Hear my cry for help,
my King and my God,
for to you I pray.
3 In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you
and wait expectantly.
4 For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness;
with you, evil people are not welcome.
5 The arrogant cannot stand
in your presence.
You hate all who do wrong;
6 you destroy those who tell lies.
The bloodthirsty and deceitful
you, LORD, detest.
7 But I, by your great love,
can come into your house;
in reverence I bow down
toward your holy temple.
8 Lead me, LORD, in your righteousness
because of my enemies—
make your way straight before me.
9 Not a word from their mouth can be trusted;
their heart is filled with malice.
Their throat is an open grave;
with their tongues they tell lies.
10 Declare them guilty, O God!
Let their intrigues be their downfall.
Banish them for their many sins,
for they have rebelled against you.
11 But let all who take refuge in you be glad;
let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
12 Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield.

Note how we just prayed:
1. That the arrogant not be able to stand in the Lord’s presence and we know the Lord rules the universe day by day.
2. That those who tell lies be destroyed.
3. That the blood thirsty, abortion comes to mind, be dealt with. Keep in mind that we worship with Christians who vote for those who put abortionist in office.
4. We prayed that those who lie and where not a word from their mouth can be trusted be judged and declared guilty.
5. We prayed that their intrigues be there downfall.
6. We prayed that they be banished, and for us that would mean be banished from power over us, for their many sins because they have rebelled against our Lord.
Yes, we are supposed to pray for our enemies. This is how David prayed for his enemies and it is here for our instruction. Note how all of these thing are the Lord’s will and how David was praying the Lord’s will be done. Prayer is to be a partnership with Heaven as we pray that the Lord’s will be done. This is only a tiny bit of similar scripture.
Note that in Psalm 7:3-5 that David prayed that if his prayers were not correct, the Lord would turn what he was requesting on how the Lord deal with his enemies back on him:
3 LORD my God, if I have done this
and there is guilt on my hands—
4 if I have repaid my ally with evil
or without cause have robbed my foe—
5 then let my enemy pursue and overtake me;
let him trample my life to the ground
and make me sleep in the dust.

Please also note that since nations have no afterlife, we Christians need to pray that the Lord deal with a nations wickedness now. If it will take the destruction of America to end abortion so be it as we pray that the Lord’s will be done. Us Christians know the Lord is in control, he is on his throne and that his throne was established in righteousness. Psalm 9:8: He rules the world in righteousness and judges the peoples with equity. Pray his will be done now and that he judge the evilness in our nation now.
I have personally noted how Psalms, like Psalm 109 where David prays against an evil man, can bring out the self righteousness in a Christian. We need to pray that it does not happen to us.
America, we have the Old Testament, of how God dealt with nations and much on how David prayed in God’s will. Please read Psalm 2 for a good summary of the Old testament and Psalm 18 on how David literally called down the Lord to defeat his enemies.
